Welcoming Our New Board Chair
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Darraugh as our new Board Chair, marking a significant milestone for our organisation. Scott, the Chief Executive of health and wellbeing spin-out, Social adVentures, is not only an accomplished leader but also a prominent social entrepreneur with a remarkable track record of over 10 years in driving public health service reform.
In his notable role as Project Director in NHS Salford,Scott spearheaded innovative community programs in deprived UK neighbourhoods, leaving an indelible mark on healthcare initiatives. In 2010, he took a bold step by leading his team to establish one of the first NHS Social Enterprises, a venture that went beyond traditional healthcare boundaries. Under his guidance, the portfolio expanded to include a community garden centre and social enterprise childcare nurseries, showcasing his commitment to holistic community well-being.
Scott's influence extends beyond his immediate roles, as he actively contributes to the Cabinet Office's public service mutualisation agenda, earning him the title of an official 'Mutuals Ambassador.' His dedication and impact were further acknowledged when he was named among theUK’s Top 100 Young Social Entrepreneurs in 2011, solidifying his position as a driving force in the realm of social innovation.
As Chair of Bevan Health and Global Grooves, Scott has demonstrated his ability to navigate complex landscapes and foster collaborative efforts for positive change. Now, he brings his wealth of experience and passion for community-centric initiatives to Starts with you, signalling a thrilling new chapter for us.
In a statement about his new position, Scott expressed, "I am honoured to be the new Chair at SWY, building on the great work of Mike Corfield. The whole team would also like to say an enormous ‘ThankYou’ to our outgoing Interim Chair, Mike Corfield. Mike has done a brilliant job of supporting and challenging the business over the past 18months, agreeing to take the Chair on temporarily in 2022. He is a much-valued member of our team and brings huge value to our work, we are delighted he has agreed to remain on the Board until the end of his term of office in 2025”.
